Mariana Karpatova, voice
While still a student at the Juilliard Opera Center, Mariana Karpatova appeared on the “Live from Lincoln Center” broadcast of Maurice Sendak’s new production of Hänsel und Gretel in the dual role of the Mother and the Witch and made an impressive debut with Sarasota Opera as Rosa Mamai in L’arlesiana. Shortly after, Ms. Karpatova went on to make her Lincoln Center recital debut at Alice Tully Hall as the recipient of the Alice Tully Vocal Arts Debut Award.
Ms. Karpatova has appeared with major US opera companies such as the Metropolitan Opera, New Jersey State Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Sarasota Opera, Baltimore Opera, Opera Theater of Saint Louis, Sofia National Opera, Palm Beach Opera and others. In concert and recital, she has performed at Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Spoleto Festival USA, Mexico National Symphony and others.
Mariana Karpatova has also been recognized as a specialist in training singers for contemporary and classical music, in both the youth and advanced professional categories. Her students have sung on Broadway, Metropolitan Opera Children’s Chorus, the Tanglewood Festival, Bel Canto Summer Program in Florence, Italy, Paper Mill Summer Conservatory. Some have been accepted at prestigious college music programs (NYU, Northwestern University, The Catholic University of America) and competed in many national vocal competitions.
Ms. Karpatova has maintained her private Mariana Voice Studio, teaching singing since 2002 in Madison, NJ and is currently on the vocal faculty at Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham Campus.
Since August 2018, Ms. Karpatova is a co-creator and participant in the “Off-the Beaten Path” Chamber Music Festival held each summer in her native Bulgaria.
Ms. Karpatova is also on the Board of Opera at Florham in NJ, as well as narrator for their opera concerts.
