About Rondo Summer Academy:
The Rondo Masterclasses will be held in beautiful and musically significant Hindemith Foundation in the village of Blonay, Switzerland.
Rondo Summer Academy is carefully designed to benefit aspiring musicians of different ages including music college students, pre-college, and younger students. Public concerts will be taking place in Hindemith Foundation as well as in beautiful l'Eglise de La Chiesaz in Blonay, Switzerland. Students' solo, chamber music, and orchestral performances, and the Faculty and Guest Artists' Concerts will be held throughout the Summer Academy. Make lasting friendships and relationships. This is an intimate and engaging music program with much attention devoted to each participant. A maximum number of participants is limited to 40 each year.
Rondo Summer Academy Location and Direction:
Rondo Summer Academy is surrounded by a 17,000 m park and greenery, situated near beautiful Vevey and Montreaux, overlooking the magnificent Lake Geneva with sweeping views of the mountains. Blonay stretches at an elevation of about 500 to 1,400 m (1,600 to 4,600 ft). The environment will provide the students with an ideal place for creativity, inspiration, intensive work and self-discovery.
The Music Center in Hindemith Foundation has very comfortable shared accommodations, many of which have balconies with park and Lake Geneva views. Participants should be prepared to share a room. Those that would like to upgrade to a single room can be made available with a $450 surcharge, based on availability.
Three healthy and delicious daily meals are included at the Restaurant at Hindemith Foundation. (Snacks, fruit, and water provided during the day). Vegetarian meals can be made available with prior notice. There are two dining rooms, one inside and an outside space overlooking the courtyard and scenery of the alps, to enjoy for nice weather evenings and gatherings.
Student Performances and Student Masterclasses:
The Hindemith Foundation houses two performance spaces, one with two Bosendorfer grand pianos, where daily concerts are held. Students are allocated daily practice and rehearsal time, and featured in student concerts, masterclasses and chamber performances. Students also enjoy world class performances by our famed faculty and guest artists.
A final Gala concerts at a beautiful church, L'Elise de la Chiesaz will feature selected Rondo Summer Academy Participants, as well as RSA Concerto Competition winners, who will perform with the RSA string orchestra.
Faculty and Guest Artist Performances:
We at Rondo Summer Academy pride ourselves on our outstanding world renowned faculty who integrate with, and inspire our students. The students are inspired by their teacher passion, dedication, artistry, and musical wisdom. We share our expertise from years of music making and performing in a very friendly and modern way. After the concerts, questions are welcome and many practical issues of performing and the modern music climate are discussed. Some of last years guest artists included Oleg Kaskiv (Menuhin Academy), Dmitri Berlinski (international violinist, MSU College of Music) , Seguei Milstein (Geneva Conservatory), Eleonora Ryndina and Dmitry Rasul Kareyev (Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva), and more! Excursions and Leisure :
Work hard, play hard! A beautiful and important role of an experience of RSA is the relationship and adventures that we have together that last a lifetime! There is something magical that happens when young people who are dedicated and share a common passion for music get together. They learn from each other, not just the faculty, and inspire each other in impromptu moments or collaboration and friendship. Two days excursion days include a guided tour to beautiful Lausanne Catheral, and the Chocolate Factory (Maisson Callier). Participants also enjoy leisurely actives such as yoga and soccer. Lifelong friendships and bonds are formed - meet friends from all different parts of the world who share a common love and dedication for music.
